Made in 2018 and limited to just 150 pieces worldwide, this extraordinary Les Paul was created through a collaboration between Slash himself and Gibson Custom Shop. It represents Slash’s personal vision of the ultimate Les Paul. Due to export restrictions on Brazilian Rosewood at the time, all 150 guitars were exclusively available within the United States, with no allocation made for international markets.
Every detail was built to Slash’s personal specifications, including the iconic Tobacco Sunburst finish, VOS aging treatment, 1958 C-Shape Neck Profile, Medium Frets, and Alnico III Custombucker Pickups. Notably, these are the same pickups featured in Slash’s highly acclaimed 2017 1958 First Standard. They deliver a sweet, warm, and beautifully layered tone in the neck and middle positions, while the bridge pickup offers plenty of output with a rich, powerful, and full-bodied character.
Of course, the most significant feature of this model is its exceptionally rare Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. Every one of these specifications reflects Slash’s personal preferences and his vision of the perfect Les Paul.
Brazilian Rosewood has long been one of the most highly sought-after tonewoods among experienced players and serious collectors. On a Les Paul, it brings an especially authentic connection to the materials and character of the legendary instruments from the 1950s. Due to international conservation regulations and strict export restrictions, obtaining Brazilian Rosewood has become increasingly difficult. Consequently, Gibson Les Paul models featuring this precious wood have become progressively rarer, with their collector values continuing to appreciate over the years.
Slash named this special edition the “Brazilian Dream.” Limited to just 150 pieces worldwide, each guitar features Slash’s personal signature on the back of the headstock and comes with an exclusive collection of memorabilia, including sunglasses, a baseball cap, a bandana, wristbands, and a belt buckle. As the entire production was originally restricted to the US market, the number of examples that have made their way into the international market is extremely limited.
The overall condition is approximately 95% mint. There are only three very subtle weather-checking lines: one on each side of the tailpiece and another to the right of the Tone control knob, as shown in the photos. Apart from these minor details, the guitar remains in otherwise excellent, like-new condition.
