Collector's Choice #1 “Greeny” 是 Gibson Custom 於 2010 年推出的第一款 Collector's Choice 系列吉他，至今仍是整個系列中最稀有、最受收藏家追捧的作品之一，全球限量僅 125 把。
本琴由傳奇技師 Tom Murphy 親手進行老化處理，忠實重現了原版 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard，序號 9-2208。這把傳奇 Burst 曾是已故藍調大師 Gary Moore 最具代表性的 Les Paul 之一。Collector's Choice 系列中，僅有三款作品由 Tom Murphy 親自操刀老化，分別為 CC#1、CC#2 與 CC#13，而 CC#1 “Greeny” 更是其中最為稀有的一款，並附有 Gary Moore 親筆簽名證書。

Gibson 在推出 Collector's Choice 系列第一號作品 “Greeny” 時，投入了極大的心力進行原琴重現。Tom Murphy 早期的老化工藝尤其細緻，不僅忠實還原原琴的規格、色澤與零件，更完整呈現其長年使用所留下的獨特痕跡，包括琴頸修補的痕跡、重新安裝背帶釘所留下的孔位等細節，讓整把琴在視覺與細節上都極為接近原版 Greeny。
原廠最初搭載的是依照原琴音色與規格取向打造的 Custombucker PAF 風格拾音器，其中包含著名的 out-of-phase 頸位拾音器，使中間段能夠呈現 Greeny 最具代表性的特殊音色。目前琴上則安裝了一組 Bare Knuckle PG Blues Humbuckers，同樣是以 Greeny 原琴的 PAF 音色為設計參考，但整體聲音更加濃郁、黏膩，具有不同於原廠拾音器的音色表現。原廠 Custombucker 拾音器皆已妥善保留，並將隨琴一併附上。
這一把CC#1原始為 Guitar Shop Taiwan 本公司收藏品，重量僅3.47公斤，相當不可思議的重量，序號特殊，並且它是我們經手過多把CC#1中音色最好的一把，音色通透清晰、共鳴完美，就像是一把半空心吉他一樣。Collector's Choice系列一直以來都是保值、增值的象徵，也是多數Gibson收藏家們夢寐以求收藏的系列，而近年來所有的CC皆已上漲，尤其是極少數由Tom Murphy本人親手操刀的CC#1，相較其他款CC更具有收藏價值。

Collector’s Choice was introduced by Gibson in 2010 as a special series created specifically for collectors. At the time, Gibson described it as the company’s premier reissue series, designed to create instruments that were as close as possible to the original-year Gibson guitars. The series recreates highly renowned and historically significant 1950s and 1960s Les Pauls that still remain in the hands of collectors and players. Every aspect, from the choice of materials to the tonal characteristics, was subject to strict quality control, while Gibson used 3D scanning technology to accurately reproduce the original guitars’ specifications, details, and signs of wear. The Collector’s Choice series is widely regarded as one of the most collectible series ever produced by Gibson in regular production.
Collector’s Choice #1 “Greeny” was the very first Collector’s Choice guitar released by Gibson Custom in 2010. To this day, it remains one of the rarest and most sought-after guitars in the entire series, with only 125 examples produced worldwide. The guitar was meticulously aged by legendary Gibson luthier Tom Murphy to faithfully recreate the original 1959 Les Paul Standard, serial number 9-2208, which was once the favorite Les Paul of the late blues legend Gary Moore.
Only three guitars in the entire Collector’s Choice series were aged by Tom Murphy himself: CC#1, CC#2, and CC#13. Among them, CC#1 “Greeny” is by far one of the rarest examples, and this particular guitar is accompanied by a certificate personally signed by Gary Moore.
“Greeny” is widely regarded by Les Paul enthusiasts around the world as the “Holy Grail.” This legendary Burst has an extraordinary history. It was originally owned by Peter Green and was later sold to Gary Moore in the 1970s. Moore extensively used the guitar throughout the height of his career before it eventually passed into the hands of Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who continues to play the original guitar on stage to this day.
When Gibson introduced “Greeny” as the very first Collector’s Choice model, the company invested an extraordinary amount of effort and attention to detail into recreating the original instrument. Tom Murphy’s early aging work was particularly meticulous, faithfully reproducing the original guitar’s specifications, finish, hardware, and distinctive signs of wear, including the neck repair marks and the relocated strap button holes.
The guitar was originally equipped with specially voiced Custombucker PAF-style pickups designed to replicate those found in the original Greeny, including the famous out-of-phase neck pickup. This unique wiring configuration produces the distinctive middle-position tone that has become one of the defining characteristics of Greeny.
The guitar currently features a set of Bare Knuckle PG Blues Humbuckers, which are also designed to capture the character of the Greeny PAF, offering a smoother, richer, and more syrupy tonal response. The original factory Custombuckers have been carefully retained and are included with the guitar.
This particular CC#1 was originally part of the Guitar Shop Taiwan company collection. It weighs only 3.47 kg/7.65lb, an exceptionally light weight for a Les Paul of this type. It also features a particularly special serial number, and among the multiple CC#1 examples we have handled over the years, this is undoubtedly the best-sounding one we have encountered.
Its tone is exceptionally clear, open, and articulate, with extraordinary resonance and an almost semi-hollow-like quality. The guitar responds immediately to the player, with an unusually open acoustic character and a level of resonance that is highly uncommon even among vintage-style Les Pauls.
The Collector’s Choice series has long been regarded as one of Gibson’s most collectible and desirable series, representing some of the most historically significant recreations ever produced by Gibson Custom. In recent years, examples from the Collector’s Choice series have continued to appreciate in value, particularly the extremely limited number of models personally aged by Tom Murphy himself.
Among these, CC#1 “Greeny” remains one of the most distinctive and collectible examples, combining the legendary history of the original Greeny with Gibson Custom’s earliest and most meticulous Collector’s Choice craftsmanship.
