1999年1月18日，Gibson宣布為紀念1959 Les Paul Burst登場四十週年，將推出限量製作的40th Anniversary紀念琴，1999年第一版全球限量100支，由Gibson Custom傳奇技師Tom Murphy手工操刀，序號由9-9001至9-9100。1999年的這款40th Anniversary因為是Gibson首次推出Reissue限量紀念琴，因意義重大，所以聘請Tom Murphy首次在琴身上做舊，這也是Gibson第一次推出舊化琴款，並於美國克蘭斯頓的Vintage World Guitars獨家販售，部分供應給當年的日本代理商山野樂器，經典的Iced Tea配色搭配很漂亮的虎紋。宏都拉斯桃花心木琴身、玫瑰木指板，琴頸為早期的'59 Neck Profile，原廠57 Classic拾音器已升級為Bare Knuckle-The Mule，這是復刻PAF經典Vintage音色的拾音器。整體九成新，Fret幾乎沒有磨損，無證書反映於價格。1999年的40th Anniversary Tom Murphy Aged在市場上評價非常好，其中又為第一版前100支最受歡迎，導致價格非常高，目前日本市場上無證書的也要價200萬日幣起跳，台幣約50萬，機會難得，有興趣的玩家們把握收藏機會。

This is the first aged reissue guitar from Gibson Custom by Tom Murphy. This is the holy grail! Limited run of 100. The serial number is 9-9053 as a lower number. As you know, the 1999 40th Anniversary aged version doesn’t show up often on the market and the high quality of work in this model and it's highly regarded. The guitar is in excellent condition, the original 57 classic pickups has been swapped with Bare Knuckle's The Mule, it has a classic PAF vintage tone. It comes with Japan Yamano Gibson case, no COA.
