2004 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt by Yuriy Shishkov 50th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster-Sunburst. The guitar is in mint condition as brand new. No fret wear, even the case candy accessories are unopened.

This is an exact replica of a 1954 Stratocaster by Yuri Shiskov. It is one of a limited release available only from January 1 through December 31, 2004. Every aspect of the original has been duplicated including the knobs, switch tip, pickup covers, and pickups. It even has the serial number, stamped on the back tremolo cover plate, the U-neck shape of the original, and the 2-piece ash body with offset glue seam. Aged nickel hardware and a Custom Closet Classic finish make it look so authentic. The guitar includes two cases, a brown 50th anniversary poodle case and the regular hard shell molded one so that affects the shipping price to double.

Fender’s latest ode to its own, the Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster, made its debut at the January ’04 NAMM show, just four months after the idea was pitched by Mike Tonn, Marketing Manager for Electric Guitars and Basses at the company’s Arizona headquarters.

“People have asked us over the years to make a ’54 Strat,” said Tonn. “Although we have made ‘versions‘ of the ’54 in the past, they were never vintage-correct due to the fact that the knobs, pickup covers, pickguard material, and switch tip were very different back then, and tooling can be costly. Unless we were thinking of adding a ’54 Stratocaster to the American Vintage series, it just did not make sense. But, as we sat to discuss what we wanted to do to commemorate the 50th anniversary, we all knew it was time.”
